Dirty Loops
Swedish trio Dirty Loops plays an absolutely explosive mix of pop, jazz, funk, electronica, and disco — all infused, at times, with a stadium-sized punch.

A new musical discovery for me — and a big thank-you goes to my longtime friend Andre Sokolanski (hard to believe we've been friends for over 30 years), the author of the Telegram channel Sokolanski.fm, for mentioning these guys.
Swedish trio Dirty Loops plays an absolutely explosive mix of pop, jazz, funk, electronica, and disco — all infused, at times, with a stadium-sized punch. Describing the vocal abilities of Jonah Nilsson, not to mention the sheer instrumental prowess of the band, can be done with just one word: fantastic.
And yet, judging by countless YouTube videos and Andre’s own reviews, these guys easily rock packed venues despite the dense jazz component in their music. They're also welcome guests at jazz festivals, where you'd usually expect a more traditional crowd.
If you haven’t heard Dirty Loops yet, it’s time to fix that. Start with their debut album Loopified (2014) — it made waves with its technical brilliance and refreshing sound. Then dive into Phoenix (2020), where their trademark fusion cocktail takes on deeper and more refined forms. Their 2021 collaboration with Cory Wong, Turbo, pushes the boundaries even further — a joyful genre-bending ride packed with energy, soul, and jaw-dropping musicianship.
And don’t miss their most recent EP, Beagle (2024) — a tight, explosive release that once again proves Dirty Loops are in a league of their own.
Dirty Loops are:
Name | Role |
---|---|
Jonah Nilsson | Lead vocals, keyboards |
Henrik Linder | Bass guitar |
Aron Mellergårdh | Drums |
They’ve got a sleek, well-crafted website too: dirty-loops.com. There you'll find tour dates, streaming links, merch, and everything a true fan needs. Fair warning: after just a couple of tracks, you might become one.
In short, Dirty Loops isn’t just a band — they’re a musical challenge. To those who think pop is shallow, jazz is boring, or they’ve heard it all. And to all of us — a reminder of what truly alive, honest, and inspiring music sounds like.
Thanks again, Andre. You nailed it, as always.
